Grade 316L contains 18Cr-12Ni-2Mo-LC. It has all the properties of 316 steel. Add Mo(2-3%),excellent corrosion resistance, especially the resistance to pitting corrosion, high temperature resistance and creep resistance.
316L is molybdenum containing stainless steel, because of the molybdenum in the steel, the total performance of the steel is better than 310 and 304 stainless steel, high temperature conditions, when the concentration of sulfuric acid is less than 15% or higher than 85%, 316L stainless steel has a wide range of uses. 316L stainless steel also has excellent resistance to chloride erosion, so it is commonly used in Marine environments.
316L stainless steel has a maximum carbon content of 0.03. It can be used in applications where annealing cannot be performed after welding and where maximum corrosion resistance is required.
(1).Corrosion resistance
Corrosion resistance is better than 304 stainless steel, in the pulp and paper production process has a good corrosion resistance. The 316L stainless steel is also resistant to Marine and corrosive industrial atmospheres.
(2).Heat resistance
316L stainless steel has good oxidation resistance in intermittent use below 1600 degrees and continuous use below 700 degrees. In the range of 800-1575 degrees, it is best not to act continuously. 316L stainless steel, but the continuous use of 316L stainless steel outside the temperature range, the stainless steel has good heat resistance. 316L stainless steel has better resistance to carbide precipitation than 316 stainless steel and can be used in the above temperature range.
(3).Heat treatment
Solution annealing was performed at a temperature range of 1010 to 1150 degrees, followed by rapid cooling. 316L stainless steel cannot be hardened by overheating treatment.
(4).welding
316L stainless steel has good welding performance. All standard welding methods can be used for welding. Welding can be used according to the use of 316Cb, 316L or 309Cb stainless steel filler rod or electrode welding. In order to obtain the best corrosion resistance, the welded section of 316 stainless steel should be annealed after welding. If 316L stainless steel is used, post-weld annealing is not required.
It is widely used in Pulp and paper used equipment, heat exchanger, dyeing equipment, film processing equipment, pipelines, coastal areas with outside the building materials, and advanced the watch chain, watchcase purposes. Water use equipment, chemical, dyestuff, papermaking, oxalic acid, fertilizer and other production equipment;Photography, food industry, coastal facilities, rope,CD rod, bolts and nuts etc.
